The Big 3 Radio Station Logo Delivery Systems In 2026

The Big 3 Radio Station Logo Delivery Systems In 2026

I'm really into radio station metadata. Unfortunately, it's not well-documented how that data and its accompanying images are actually delivered from vehicle to vehicle in the USA.

In my Toyota Tacoma, image delivery is handled by Gracenote. That is, until HD Radio steps in and takes over. According to Quu’s 2026 industry report, HD Radio is installed in 74% of vehicles. [See note 1]

But when listening to analog radio, car radios rely on backend metadata platforms to fill in the visual gaps.

Here is the breakdown of the delivery systems powering AM and FM receivers in 2026 models, as far as I can gather from the newest sources I can find:

1. Gracenote (47.5% of vehicles)
Gracenote provides audio metadata and smart radio solutions to nearly half the market. [See note 2]

2. DTS Autostage (23% of vehicles)
DTS Autostage delivers hybrid radio and metadata services to nearly a quarter of modern vehicles. [See note 1]

3. RadioDNS (2.5% of vehicles)
RadioDNS is primarily utilized by Volkswagen and Porsche through their integration with Radioplayer. [See note 3]

I should note that, to the best of my knowledge, every vehicle that has DTS Autostage also has HDRadio.
